The Olympiad in the field of electrical engineering is held annually.
There are usually 2-3 workshops as preparation and the actual Olympiad on a Saturday in March - April. Registration is handled by the school's subject teachers. Further information can be found here.
Schüler-IT is an opportunity for pupils in grades 9-12 to acquire IT skills at an early stage that go beyond the knowledge taught in computer science lessons and optimally prepare them for IT-related studies and in particular for the Bachelor of Computer Science at the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences.
The knowledge transfer is practice and project-oriented.
Weekly or bi-weekly attendance phases are useful, but not necessary, so that students outside of Görlitz can also work effectively.
Typical contents are, for example
Programming in Java, Python, etc.
Web apps and web sites
Microcontroller programming
Desktop applications
In grades 11 and 12, a smooth transition to participation in the first courses of the Bachelor of Computer Science is possible. This can considerably facilitate and shorten your studies.
Preparation is individual. Applications can be sent to: f-ei@hszg.de
As part of internships and special learning achievements, a deeper insight into certain topics can be gained, such as
cloud computing
Raspberry Pi programming
Particle Swarm Optimization
Evolutionary algorithms
Databases
Web engineering
In particular, it is possible to integrate into various research projects currently being carried out at the Department of Computer Science - for example in the field of
Data analysis and privacy,
Assistive technologies,
Semantic Web,
energy informatics, etc.
At the faculty you can also complete the special learning achievements (BELL) or a student internship. You agree the topic individually and supervision is provided by university staff.
In a student internship, you will work alone or in groups on interesting tasks in modern laboratories.

We offer a bridging semester for Studienkolleg graduates.
This makes it easier to start a degree course.
It is possible to attend selected courses in the fields of computer science, electrical engineering, mechatronics or automation technology.
Preparation is individual. Applications can be sent to: f-ei@hszg.de
The IT practice bridging course enables graduates of the Studienkolleg to acquire important skills for an assignment with practice partners or for a possible working student job before the start of their studies or at the beginning of their studies.
Above all, skills for the development of web front-ends are trained, i.e.
HTML
CSS
JavaScript
Furthermore, basic knowledge for the development of databases and especially skills in the area of SQL are trained.
Preparation is individual. Applications can be sent to: f-ei@hszg.de
