At the beginning of October, the go-ahead was given for the construction of an electronic interlocking system for the control and safety technology department.
On 02.10.2023, work began on the construction of an electronic interlocking system for the control and safety technology department. The system is on permanent loan from a partner company of the university. The interlocking has been used as a training system since 1992. In the future, it can make a major contribution to imparting knowledge of the fundamentals of control and safety technology, as well as the planning and maintenance of such systems at our university. Preparations are currently being made to transport the components and system documentation from Brandenburg.
The Siemens SIMIS C electronic interlocking system, which controls a smaller station, consists of around ten computer cabinets and relay racks as well as two control stations for dispatchers. As the system was already designed as a training system, the external system only consists of a point machine and a light signal. All other components, which would not add to the space required for teaching, are simulated in the indoor system.
The installation of the system in the premises of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science will take place in the summer semester of 2024 as part of student assignments and final theses. With increasing scientific involvement of the interlocking system, further points of contact will arise for final thesis tasks.
