Review - 2021 Conference: Polymeric insulating materials in electrical engineering

From 6.10.-7.10.21, the second symposium on polymeric insulating materials and their interfaces took place at the Zittau / Görlitz University of Applied Sciences under the scientific direction of Prof. Dr.techn. Stefan Kornhuber. The aim of this conference is to create an interdisciplinary platform between materials technology, chemistry and electrical engineering to discuss different ideas and experiences in the development of materials and insulation systems. At the second symposium, topics relating to the stressing of solids, internal and external interfaces and the modelling of solids and interfaces were discussed in the sessions focusing on modelling, DC stressing, insulating systems for rotating machines, external insulating interfaces, in particular insulators and functionalized materials.

At the beginning of the symposium, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Cuniberti introduced the participants to the application of new methods in the implementation of functionalized materials through to integrated sensors and actuators with his keynote speech "On new paths to intelligent materials - the digital revolution in materials research".

The symposium offers a platform for the presentation and discussion of current issues from industry and research. The lectures and poster contributions served as impulses for the discussion of current and future challenges and solutions and opened up the opportunity to exchange experiences in an open atmosphere.

Almost 60 participants from Switzerland, the Czech Republic, Algeria, India and Germany took part in the hybrid conference, which featured 19 presentations for discussion.
