The 26th meeting in this context was well attended with 38 participants and the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences.
Munich, 28-30.06.2018
As is tradition, this year's colloquium on high-voltage and systems engineering for academic staff was once again held in the last week of June. With 38 participants from the Technical Universities of Darmstadt, Dresden, Ilmenau, Munich and the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences, the 26th meeting in this context was well attended and promised an interesting mix of topics from all areas of electrical power engineering. The HSZG was represented by Mario Dreßler, Stefan Kittan, Stefan Kornhuber, Stefan Kühnel, Jun Ting Loh and Harald Schmalfuß from the High Voltage Technology department
After a long journey, the participants were treated to a hearty dinner in the "Tegernseer Tal" brewery to get them in the mood for the Munich backdrop, followed by a hearty tour of the city. The next morning, the program included two series of lectures on classic high-voltage technology and diagnostics, which were met with great interest by all participants. Two contributions from Zittau on the topics of diagnostics and high-voltage technology also stimulated the technical discussion that continued throughout the day.
The participants then took the coach to Garmisch for a tour of the Bavarian Zugspitzbahn operations. The following tour provided detailed insights into the structure and function of the facility as well as the interplay between historical and modern technology.
The interplay of system technology and mechanical engineering, which has been tried and tested for almost 90 years, then took us safely to the Zugspitzplatt and then to the summit, which was certainly a highlight of the event in two senses. After the return journey and dinner, we took a closer look at the laboratories belonging to the Chair of High Voltage and Systems Engineering at the Technical University of Munich.
Day 3 of the colloquium was once again dedicated to high-voltage technology, with three sessions featuring presentations on switching, cables and devices and materials. As on the previous day, there were plenty of discussion points and a lively professional exchange between colleagues.
We would especially like to thank Professor Dr. Kindersberger and the TU Munich team for the successful event and are already looking forward to the 27th Colloquium on High Voltage and Systems Engineering in Dresden at the beginning of July 2019.
