47th CIGRE Conference in Paris

The international organization CIGRE is hosting the "CIGRE Session" conference in Paris.

The international organization for electrical energy transmission and supply CIGRE organizes the "CIGRE Session" conference in Paris every two years. This year, it took place from August 26 to 31 at the Palais des Congrès congress center. Over 3,600 delegates from over 98 countries accepted CIGRE 's invitation to Paris to discuss current and future challenges in energy generation and transmission. Current research results and developments, e.g. in the fields of transformers, overhead lines and high-voltage direct current transmission, were presented in the form of posters and publications and discussed in panel discussions. In addition, over 300 companies presented themselves and their products in a technical exhibition. Almost 10,000 experts took advantage of this opportunity to discuss and exchange information.

The Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences was represented by Stefan Kornhuber and Stefan Kühnel, among others, who presented possibilities for evaluating the hydrophobic transfer and the erosion and tracking resistance of polymer insulating materials in their contributions. Furthermore, they both participated as experts in several CIGRE working groups on topics such as dynamic hydrophobic properties (D1.58), arc resistance (D1.72), methods for dielectric characterization (D1.59) of polymeric insulating materials and surface damage of polymeric insulating materials (D1.62). In addition to the poster sessions, the discussion sessions of the Study Committees are an essential part of the CIGRE Session: - Study Committee D1 (Materials and Emerging Test Techniques): Test method for evaluation the Hydrophobicity Transfer, Stefan Kornhuber - Study Committee D1 (Materials and Emerging Test Techniques): Accelerated Material Optimization Regarding the Resistance against Surface Discharges Stefan Kühnel - Study Committee A2 (Power Transformers): Contribution to Machine Learning technologies in Health Index determination, Stefan Kornhuber, Stefan Kittan The next CIGRE session will again take place at the Palais des Congrès Paris from August 24-28, 2020.

The project "Condition assessment of power and distribution transformers in electrical power engineering (Smart Grid - Smart Monitoring)" is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research as part of the funding line Research at universities of applied sciences with companies (FHprofUnt) (SC03FH026PB5).
