The HSCG was represented at Europe's leading international conference and exhibition CIRED in June.
The '24th International Conference and Exhibition on Electricity Distribution' is Europe's leading international conference and exhibition in the field of electricity distribution networks. It took place this year from June 12-15, 2017 in Glasgow at the prestigious Scottish Event Campus (SEC). Over 1500 international participants took the opportunity to exchange views on new scientific findings and existing challenges in the field of electrical power supply in papers, discussion panels and poster presentations.
In preparation for the conference, 1367 abstracts and 749 papers were submitted for publication and over 700 posters were prepared. The focus of the event was on six major topics dealing with research priorities and experiences in the electrical supply network.
Not only were current developments in the areas of components, voltage quality, operation and planning of supply networks presented in numerous contributions and open discussion panels and posters, but also key topics such as the use and integration of available alternative resources and the associated future challenges for the supply network were considered. In addition to the scientific contributions, over 100 companies took the opportunity to present themselves and their innovative products in the field of electrical supply networks at the exhibition.
The Department of High Voltage Engineering at Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences was also able to present a paper and poster at this international event. Research results on long-term tests on medium-voltage cable joints were presented, which were made possible and developed in years of cooperation with Cellpack (Behr Bircher Cellpack BBC Radeberg GmbH). By actively participating in this conference, the Department of High Voltage Technology once again demonstrated the high international significance of its research activities in the field of cable accessories.
