Exciting conference in Argentina

Researchers from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering/Computer Science present current research results in Buenos Aires.

The "20th International Symposium on High Voltage Engineering" took place in Buenos Aires, Argentina, from August 28 to September 1. The conference was attended by over 360 participants from 40 different countries, including manufacturers and operators of high-voltage systems as well as employees and professors from colleges and universities. In over 300 presentations and posters, current research results were presented on the main topics of electric fields, transient voltages, high-voltage and high-current testing methods, materials and insulation systems, monitoring and diagnostics, lifetime management of high-voltage systems, high-voltage direct current technologies and industrial applications.

Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences was represented by the Department of High Voltage Engineering / Materials / Theoretical Electrical Engineering headed by Prof. Dr. techn. S. Kornhuber.

Stefan Kühnel presented his current research results on the flashover behavior of glass cap insulators with partial silicone coating. At the conference, Mr. Kühnel was able to show the international audience that a partial coating of the insulators makes it possible to save material while maintaining a defined insulation capacity.

Dr. Stefan Kittan also presented the current SMART-TR research project "Condition assessment of power and distribution transformers in electrical power engineering" as part of a poster presentation. Dr. Kittan was able to explain the motivation and the goal as well as the solution approaches to interested scientists. The numerous discussions at the poster also provided information and new ideas for the project.

The project "Condition assessment of power and distribution transformers in electrical energy technology (Smart Grid - Smart Monitoring)" is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research as part of the funding line Research at universities of applied sciences with companies (FHprofUnt) (SC03FH026PB5).
