Jazz and lightning in the high-voltage hall

An exciting look behind the scenes of the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences at the 5th Zittau Culture Night.

Experimental demonstrations in the high-voltage hall - Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences' contribution to the 5th Zittau Culture Night was a great success!

Jazz and lightning in the high-voltage hall? This may sound confusing at first, but at the 5th Zittau Culture Night, they merged into a successful event. Based on various experiments from the history of electricity and their implementation in the high-voltage hall of the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences in Zittau, matching jazz contributions by the university band "Adhoc" were presented and led to a musical rounding off - sometimes also a completely new way of looking at the experiments. The event amusingly demonstrated that the art of music-making and the art of experimentation are in perfect harmony. Cleverly staged with spotlights, the high-voltage hall showed an almost glamorous side on this evening. And even Halloween made an appearance at the final experiment. At this point at the latest, it became clear how much enthusiasm the performers had put into preparing the HSZG's contribution to the 5th Zittau Culture Night. The event was hosted by Prof. Stefan Kornhuber, Head of the Department of High Voltage Technology. He was supported by his colleagues Mr. Rüdiger Cervinka and Mr. Frank Mattausch. The numerous interested visitors were able to experience the technology, the music and the experiments in various colorful facets in two runs.
